IN CLASS... Monday, 10/26/15 |
Our class was pretty full today working in groups. First, we finished the film strip of the Invention of Writing. Then, students wrote their name in Cuneiform, the world's first system of writing. Sumerians invented it to keep track of their business transactions. Lastly, students drew a ZIGGURAT and wrote 5 to 6 facts about them (purpose, what is it, who lived there, how they built them, etc.)
No shocker here, the homework is about ZIGGURATS and students will answer a prompt on Edmodo. |
TUESDAY, 10/27/15Today, we took Cornell Notes on Chapter 3, lesson 3. We focused on the many inventions that Sumer made. At the end of class, we had a short amount of time to get the homework started.

WEDNESDAY 10/28/15On Wednesday, we used Edmodo to watch a video on Sumer. We then read a shortened version of The Epic of Gilgamesh (the oldest, greatest story ever told). Afterwards, we watched the next video that went into detail about Sumerian writing and an animated version of the Epic of Gilgamesh. Students then commented about the video on Edmodo.
Homework tonight is to begin work on the SPRITE GAL review of Mesopotamia. This will be the beginning of our Travel Brochure project that will begin tomorrow and be due next Thurs/Friday. ![]()

THURS/FRIDAY 10/29, 10/30We'll be finishing up on our SPRITE GAL on Mesopotamia worksheet in class today. Then, students will begin a TRAVEL BROCHURE on Mesopotamia project. In this project, students will advertise coming to Mesopotamia (or call it Sumer or the Fertile Crescent) in a colorful and informative tri-fold.
NOW, students will be offered a choice this year if they would like to complete this BROCHURE with the traditional TRI-FOLD on paper, or electronically on an App or create a video presentation of this (green screen is available if the script and actors are completely ready to a T!!! or other type of media of their choosing. We only have a week, and at least 6 sections of SPRITE GAL must be covered in great detail. ![]()
