IN CLASS... Monday, 2/22/16
We began by reading a handout from the History Alive book on the Ancient World. I'll see if I can scan this in for anyone wishing to read more about the Qin Dynasty. Students then used their notes from lesson 3 and this handout to draw pictures about the Qin Dynasty and explain some of the important information about this dynasty that reunited China after the Time of the Warring States.
This drawing is homework and will hopefully look like an informative poster about the Qin Dynasty. Make it colorful and awesome.

Very similar day to yesterday, we read a handout about the Han Dynasty from History Alive textbook. Once students were finished they began drawing a poster about the Han that includes drawings and information about what they've learned about the Han (government, warfare, industry, art & literature, inventions, etc.)
I will post the handout here after school so that it might help students with the homework (the poster).

Today, we did a venn diagram comparing and contrasting the Qin and Han dynasties. Students pulled their information from the textbook, their notes, and their drawings of both dynasties. Then, with that graphic organizer to help them, they wrote a compare/contrast essay 8 to 10 sentences in length. Upon finishing, students reread, revised and edited their essay and rewrote the essay as the homework assignment on Edmodo.

thursday/friday 2/25 & 2/26
Thursday/Friday, we read a handout about the Silk Roads of China from the History Alive textbook. Then, students created a Google Slide about the Silk Roads with the following sections: Title Page, Vocabulary page, What is Silk page, Map page, Trade page about which goods were coming from the west to China and what goods were coming from China to the west, and a page on Cultural Diffusion. Students used about 4 bullet points on each page and pictures to describe these facets of the Silk Roads.
