Monday, april 4, 2016Students used the Greeks Books to create a page about the Mycenaeans. They had all class period to find 7 to 8 bullet points about this early Greek civilization located on the mainland of Greece. Then, they drew pictures that supported their information and made for a colorful presentation of their people and culture.
Finishing this page will be the homework for tonight and then we'll do a page about Geography for tomorrow night's homework. |

I introduced Homer and Greek Literature around 850 B.C. and then we read about Homer in the following worksheet. I also posted a link to Edmodo to get information about the story of the Iliad. Students read that and filled out a worksheet about Homer's epic poem, the Iliad.

Students read 2 stories to begin class. One worksheet detailed the entire story of Iliad in one page and then they went to Edmodo and read Books 9 thru 24 of the story of the Odyssey. These are very large books, so I tried to condense the story so we understood the topics that Homer covered.
After those readings, students created a page about Literature for the Greeks Book project. Students can write about anything we covered: Homer, the Iliad, the Odyssey, Aesop's Fables (in the textbook) and even the creation of the Greek Alphabet.
