MONDAY, 10/10/16Today, we had time in class to FINISH the Google Slide on our Chapter 1 Review.
Tuesday, 10/11/16It's MOCK ELECTION day today :) We discussed several of the Propositions and candidates that California will vote on November 8. Then students voted on the Google Form that I posted at the bottom of my website's Mock Election page. Make sure to check that page for all kinds of important information.
Wednesday, 10/12/16I introduced SPRITE GAL to students today. It is an acronym for several concepts that will be very important to our study of Ancient Civilizations this year. They stand for: Society, Political, Religion, Intellectual, Technology, Economy, Geography, Art/Architecture, and Language. These concepts will help in the future too as the high school teaches SPRITE to students as well.
Students will fill in the worksheet I gave them and draw a picture of each of these concepts. We will continue to come back to this worksheet/poster from time to time as we study each new civilization and it will make it easier for us to compare civilizations to one another. Thursday/Friday 10/13 & 10/14We're going to finish our SPRITE GAL worksheet and then talk about PERSPECTIVE AND POINT OF VIEW...
For PERSPECTIVE: Mr. Nelson lectured about how different people may view different events and historical events very differently. Each item that we read is one perspective offered about that event from a distinct point of view. We should understand that viewpoints can differ wildly about any one historical event. For example: 9/11 was viewed very differently by our government, 9/11 survivors and victims, the fire department, someone who saw the bombings, other countries, some Muslim countries, different newspapers around the world, ISIS, our own media or TV news here in America, and the list goes on!!!!!!!! Point of View - watch these videos to see how this works. www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOVMM60Sm2c www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FLTQRAGn8E |
