MONDAY, 11/14/16We did a review of Chapter 3 from start to finish on a worksheet. Students completed that in class and then read a page about Leonard Wooley, the famous archaeologist who dug up sites in Sumer and answered 6 questions about him for homework. Here are the 2 worksheets below :)
Tuesday, 11/15/16We are doing a Google Drawing that shows SPRITE GAL for SUMER. Here's the link to the file....open it and then click FILE, MAKE A COPY and RENAME it and begin work.
Wednesday, 11/16/16We did an activity on Chapter 4, lesson 1 where students rotated from one station to the next and learned about the following areas: Biography, Laws, Day of Misfortune, Legacy, and a Hammurabi Webquest. I'll post the worksheet that guided students through the activity below.
And, here's the website we used for the Hammurabi Webquest: www.phillipmartin.info/hammurabi/homepage.htm
Thursday/Friday 11/17 & 11/18Today, we're extending the learning about the world's first Empire, the Akkadians and then the Babylonians to include Mesopotamia's next 2 empires: The Assyrians and the New Babylonians. We read the following handout from the History Alive textbook on all 4 Empires, then took notes about each empire in a jigsawed discussion, and then began creating a Google Slide about these 4 empires. I created a template to start the students on their way and here's that Google Slide template:
