HOMER's Iliad

Good morning guys and girls (Ladies and Jellybeans!!!)

We're going to begin learning about Early Greek Literature and the oldest greatest story ever told (other than the Epic of Gilgamesh).  Around the 800's a blind poet named Homer lived and came up with 2 epic poems that really changed literature and we're still reading these stories called the Iliad and the Odyssey.

here we go!

  1. READ the Greeks Book page I've posted to the RIGHT, it's a shortened version of this 600 page book called the Iliad, written to tell Homer's story of the Trojan Wars
  2. Then, Click on this link to find information about the Iliad on Ducksters:  www.ducksters.com/history/ancient_greece/iliad.php
  3. Answer the questions on the worksheet to the RIGHT called Homer Iliad, using the ducksters website.  Answer on a sheet of paper if you can't complete the worksheet online.
  4. Now, watch a short explanation of the Trojan War in the Iliad in the video below (pardon the narrator's heavy accent)
