IN CLASS... Monday, 2/8/16

Happy Monday, we finished the Glogster on the Shang and Zhou dynasties today.  Students don't need to "turn" the Glogster in as I can just pull up their work on my account.  Then, we shared the Glogsters with other students in their group and finally watched a few videos about the Shang and Zhou on Edmodo.  Homework is a question on Edmodo and here's a link to those videos...

​Tuesday, 2/9/16

Today, we took notes on the 3 Chinese Philosophies that developed during the Time of the Warring States.  Specifically, philosophers began to think about what it would take to restore Chinese society back to peace.  As they thought about how to bring about peace, they came up with 3 very different strategies to bring about peace.  We read through Chapter 8, lesson 2 and took notes on the worksheet I handed out to students.  These philosophies are critical to understand how China moves forward and these philosophies still affect Chinese and Asian culture today.

The homework is below...it is a worksheet with a primary source written by Confucius.  Students can have a tough time with these reads, but be patient, continue reading, and analyze the words the best you can!!!!!

wednesday, 2/10/16

We created a Glogster about the 3 Chinese philosophies we took notes on Tuesday.  Students created a Glogster writing 55 to 80 words about each philosophy and included a picture that was very symbolic of that philosophy.  I created a template Glog if students want to begin with mine...it can be accessed by clicking on Teacher, then click on Glogs and it's the first glog that comes up titled Ancient Chinese Philosophies.

Thursday/Friday 2/11/16 & 2/12/16

Students took the Chapter 8, lesson 1 and 2 Quiz today and then worked on Chapter 8, lesson 3 notes in worksheet form.  Students were self directed on the notes and then watched a video about the Qin Dynasty and the Han Dynasty that I posted on Edmodo (link below).
