Happy Monday!

Today, we are writing a CER essay where students THINK about the question:  Why were the Greeks able to CREATE so many INVENTIONS and INNOVATIONS in philosophy, science, drama, and art?

This is a DIFFICULT question, use the internet, textbooks, Greeks Books, talk to mom and dad, etc.  See if you can come up with an idea of WHY the Greeks were able to do this and other places like PERSIA did not.

THINK ABOUT:  the conditions that existed in Greece or in Athens, the things that were special to Greece that weren't happening in other cultures, and things that might lead to making inventions.

Use the following FILE for your instructions on doing a CER ESSAY.  Do for homework if you don't finish in class!

Students read Chapter 13, lesson 1 about the beginning of Rome.  They spent the class period writing a bedtime story all about Lesson 1 and the beginning of Rome.  Put Lesson 1 into your own words starting with "once upon a time..."  If you didn't finish in class, it is homework.

Feel free to write this Bedtime Story on a Google Doc and make sure it's in the Social Studies Folder!
